報名: 請於6月1日開始, 到鄰近一間圖書館, 圖書巡迴車或上網到sfpl.org 報名參加或替全家或團體報名參加。請注意:每個人只能在一處報名。

光臨圖書館: 請多借圖書館資料和參加適合各年齡的免費活動。

閱讀!紀錄您所花費的閱讀時間在您的網上記錄或到您的圖書館登記。兒童閱讀10小時, 青少年閱讀30小時, 成人閱讀40小時即可選擇一項獎品。每位讀滿40小時可獲得一次機會參加全市超級抽獎。

參加者可選任何語言的圖書,幼齡兒童可由他人代讀給他們聽。

This year's Summer Read is one program for all ages! Join online or at the library, read and win prizes!

SIGN UP beginning June 1st at any neighborhood San Francisco Public Library or bookmobile or online from home by visiting sfpl.org. Sign up your whole family or group but please note that each person may only sign up once.

VISIT YOUR LIBRARY often to check out books and other materials and to attend the many programs and events for all ages.

READ! Record the time you spend reading on your online record or at your library. There will be one grand prize for children who read for 10 hours; teens who read for 30 hours and adults who read for 40 hours. And everybody who reads for 40 hours from June 1 to July 31 has a chance to enter our citywide Super Raffle!

Please note that the Chinatown Branch and all San Francisco Public Libraries will be closed on Monday, May 30, 2011, for Memorial Day.

Memorial Day commemorates the men and women who died while in the military service. It was first officially observed on May 30, 1868, after the end of the Civil War.

中國玉器圖片秀 - 粵語/英語講解在2011年5月28日(星期六), 下午2點半至4點

舊金山亞洲博物館講師崔葆鈴 (Pauline Tsui) 蒞臨華埠圖書館介紹中國玉器。在中國, 玉器比黃金更珍貴。崔女士會介紹玉的來源和種類, 並討論18至20世紀初的中國玉器, 其中著重講解其吉祥的象徽意義。最後她會介紹保存玉器的方法。

Chinese Jade: A slide show and talk in English and Cantonese on Saturday, May 28, 2:30-4pm

Pauline Tsui, a docent from the Asian Art Museum, will present the story of jade, considered in China to be more precious than gold. She will give a brief introduction about the formation and classification of jade, followed by an appreciation of jade pieces from 18th to early 20th century China focusing on the symbolic and auspicious meanings of jade. She will finish with tips on how to care for jade.

Author Reading: My Mom is a Fob - Earnest Advice in Broken English from Your Asian-American Mother, Saturday, May 14, 2:30-4pm

Bay Area native Serena Wu will talk about and read from her book My Mom is a Fob: Earnest Advice in Broken English from Your Asian-American Mom. Through texts, emails, phone calls and more, My Mom is a Fob showcases the stories of a community of Asian-American kids who know exactly what it's like to be on the receiving end of that amazing, unconditional, and sometimes misspelled love.
 
A book sale and signing will follow the program.

《我那可愛的新移民媽媽》 新書發表會在星期六,2011年5月14日, 下午2:30至4點

 灣區土生土長的 Serena Wu 蒞臨華埠圖書館講述她的新書《我那可愛的新移民媽媽》。這本書闡述亞裔美國媽媽如何用蹩腳英語,給予孩子她們認為最熱心的建議。通過文字、電郵、電話及更多其他途徑, 作者在新書中向大眾展示了普遍亞裔美國孩子的故事:在奇妙的、無條件甚至有時候是不適當的愛的另一端,孩子們是如何光景。
英語講座,不設翻譯。會後有新書簽售。

古琴: 中國古典音樂 - 5月7日(星期六)下午2:30至4時

慶祝亞太傳統月!

著名古琴音樂家李一鳴女士應邀表演古琴。 古琴已有三千多年歷史,優雅古樸, 是中國最早的彈弦樂器。歷史上著名的古琴家有伯牙、 孔子、蔡文姬、李白、杜甫、宋徽宗等。

2003年11月7日聯合國教育科學文化組織宣佈, 把中國古琴藝術列為"人類口述和非物質遺產"代表作。

英語及中文講解。

Guqin: Ancient Chinese Music, Saturday, May 7, 2:30-4pm

In celebration of Asian Pacific American Heritage Month

We welcome music professor Ms. Yiming Li, from the Guqin Society International, for a talk and performance of guqin music.

The guqin is China's oldest stringed musical instrument with a history of more than 3000 years. In 2003, guqin music was proclaimed as one of the Masterpieces of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO.

The program will be in English and Chinese.
