Marry a Gold Mountain Man - A book talk with author Wu Keping on Saturday, November 25, 2:30-4pm

Local author Wu Keping's novel Marry a Gold Mountain Man tells the story of three generations of a Taishanese family both in China and in the United States. It's the second novel in the Gold Mountain series that reflects the history of Taishan immigrants in America.

A book sale and signing follows the event. This event will be in Chinese.

要嫁就嫁金山伯 - 華僑女作家伍可娉書友會, 2010年9日25日下午2點半至4點

舊金山女作家伍可娉繼 《金山伯的女人》 後又一長篇小說 《要嫁就嫁金山伯》 描寫了三代人, 分隔金山台山兩地 。 題材新穎沉重, 時空跨越半個世紀以上, 人性在時代風雲中的變形, 金山伯與他的女人之間的恩怒情仇, 呈現人生何人性的本真 。伍可娉的前一本小說 《金山伯的女人》 出版後深受好評, 是海內外地一部全方位描寫 '中國第一僑鄉' 廣東省台山縣女性命運的長卷 。

作家 Canyon Sam 《天空列車: 歷史邊緣的西藏婦女》閱讀會, 9月11日(星期六)下午2點半至4點

請參加本地作家及活躍人士Canyon Sam 的新作 《歷史邊緣的西藏婦女》的閱讀會。他登上從北京到西藏具爭議性的「天空列車」跨越喜馬拉雅山，搜尋一群西藏婦女。她們都曾在一本具開創性的回憶錄中出現，該回憶錄反映了西藏婦女不為人知的故事以及她們在西藏歷史所扮演的重要角色。
節目以英語進行, 不設翻譯。會後新書簽售。

Canyon Sam 也會在2010年10月6日(星期三)下午六點半在 Bernal Heights Branch Library 舉辦閱讀會。
