圖書館重建16周年慶典

圖書館將於612(週二)616(週六)下午2:30舉行重建16周年慶典 ,請來與我們一道慶祝及享受茶點,屆時將有相片、電子剪貼簿及短片,介紹圖書館自1996年擴建重開至今的歷史。舊金山古箏樂團更將於616(週六)現場演奏,萬勿錯過!

100 Years at the Chinatown Y

For over a century, the Chinatown Y has served the community by enriching the lives of all people in spirit, mind, and body.  Ford Lee and Allyson Wong, co-authors of the book The Chinatown Y: Honoring the Legacy, Building for the Future will take you on a nostalgic trip back in time and present the history of the Chinatown YMCA through stories and photographs on Saturday, June 2nd from 2:30 to 4:00 pm.  A book sale and signing will follow this program.   The presentation will be in English.

Internet 101 for Seniors

Learn how to use the internet to access a world of information.  Come join us on May 12th, 2012 (Sat) from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.  The class will be taught in Mandarin.  Seniors over the age of 60 who already know how to use the mouse and keyboard are welcome to register.  Registration begins 10:00 a.m. on April 28th (Sat).  Limited to 12 participants.  Must register in person.  For more information, please call 355-2888.

Teen Essay Contest in May 2012

In celebration of Asian Pacific American Heritage Month in May 2012, you are invited to
join a Teen Essay Contest
Topic: "Energy Saving"
Deadline: Saturday, May 26, 2012

Judging will be based on originality, grammar, coherence to the topic and more.
The rules:
* Age: 12-18

* Text should be written in English only, at least 1,000 words
* One entry per person
* Submission by email to: chinatowntz@gmail.com
* Submission in person or by mail to: Jewel Chen, Chinatown Branch Library, 1135 Powell Street, San Francisco, CA 94108
* Include your name, address, school, grade, phone number and email address
* Essays will be divided into two age groups, middle school (Grade 6-8) and high school (Grade 9-12)
* Prizes for winners of each group: First place winners will receive a Best Buy gift card ($50). Second place winners will receive a Best Buy gift card ($25).
* The winner's essay will be posted on the San Francisco Public Library's Teen web pages (Chinatown Teen'Zine Blog)
