Annual Open House Celebration June 12&14/華埠圖書館重建18周年慶典 6月12日及14日
It is the 18th anniversary of the Library's grand reopening! Come celebrate and enjoy tea with the staff! There will also be photo displays and a digital memory book documenting the branch’s long history. On June 12, we will have a short guqin performance; on June 14, we will have a dance performance by Flying Angels Chinese Dance Group.
歡迎來慶祝華埠圖書館重建18周年, 6月12日我們會有一個簡短的古琴表演，14日我們會有飛天使舞蹈團的精彩表演! 屆時還有相片、電子剪貼簿介紹華埠圖書館自1996年擴建重開至今的歷史。簡單茶點招待。
Resource Tabling/ 三藩市選舉諮詢
On Saturday May 10, 1-3 p.m., San Francisco Elections Outreach Team members will explain everything about voting in San Francisco, register voters, and answer questions for any San Franciscan.
五月十日星期六下午1點至3點，三藩市選舉外展團隊的工作人員將提供所有有關在三藩市選舉的資訊，註冊選民，並回答三藩市居民的相關問題。
What's on the Ballot/ 六月加州選舉須知
On Tuesday May 6, 4-5 p.m., Elections Outreach Team will provide education on the upcoming June election and answer questions. The presentation will be conducted in both English and Cantonese.

Library closed on Monday, Nov. 11 （11月11日圖書館閉館休息一天）
Chinatown Branch Library and all other San Francisco public libraries will be closed on Monday, Nov. 11th, for Veterans Day.

Seniors Computer Classes at Chinatown Branch on 10/3 and 10/10; 華埠圖書館10月3日及10日舉辦國語長者電腦班
There will be SeniorNet Basic Mouse and Keyboarding Skills class on Oct. 3, 10:15 am-12:15 pm, and Internet 101 class on Oct.10, 10:15 am-12:15 pm. For Oct. 3 class, registration begins 10:00 am on Sept. 19; for Oct. 10 class, registration begins 10:00 am on Sept. 26. Limited to 10 participants each class. Must register in person. Instruction in Mandarin.

This month, we will be featuring the Chinatown Library's Digital Archive which is a collection of historical pamphlets, newspaper clippings and magazine articles available online.
This program will be conducted in Chinese. Registration is not required.

Cantonese Computer Classes for Seniors and Adults
The new session for our Mouse and Keyboarding class in Cantonese will be held 5/4 (Sat) at 10:15 am. Sign-up begins 4/20 (Sat). The Internet 101 class will be held 5/11 (Sat) at 10:15 am which registration begins 4/27 (Sat). Adults aged 50 or above are especially welcome to join. Class size limit of 10. Pre-registration in person is required. Pls call 355-2888 for details.

Topic: “Building Leadership: Embracing Cultural Values and Inclusion”

Judging will be based on originality, grammar, coherence to the topic and more.
The rules:
• Age: 12-18
• Text should be written in English only, at least 1,000 words
• One entry per person

• Submission in person or by mail to: Jewel Chen, Chinatown Branch Library, 1135 Powell Street, San Francisco, CA 94108
• Include your name, address, school, grade, phone number and email address
• Essays will be divided into two age groups, middle school (Grade 6-8) and high school (Grade 9-12)
• Prizes for winners of each group: First place winners will receive a $50 gift card. Second place winners will receive gift cards for the total value of $35
• The winner’s essays will be posted on the San Francisco Public Library’s Teen web pages (Chinatown Teen’Zine Blog)

The Hakka Cookbook: Chinese Soul Food from around the World
Join us to discover the unknown cuisine of the Chinese nomads, known as the Hakka on Saturday, March 16th from 2:30 to 3:30 pm. Linda Lau Anusasananan, author of The Hakka Cookbook, Chinese Soul Food from around the World, will talk about her journey to find her Hakka identity through food. Linda, who formerly worked as a food writer and recipe editor for 34 years at Sunset Magazine, created and tested thousands of recipes. Her work has also appeared in Cooking Light, Yoga Journal, and Flavor and Fortune. This program will be conducted in English. A book sale and signing will follow the program.
