Library closed on Monday, September 3, 2011 for Labor Day
The Chinatown Branch and all other San Francisco Public Libraries will be closed on Monday, September 3, for Labor Day.
The Shojo in Shojo Manga
Viz Media editor Amy Yu will discuss different types of female characters that appear in shojo manga (Japanese comics for girls). Cultural context and ideas of femininity will be explored, as well as what components make the stories in shojo manga so addicting! From what makes a shojo heroine worth rooting for to what makes a successful shojo series, this editor will give her perspective on the fun medium. Whether you're unfamiliar with shojo manga or a diehard fan, there will be something for everyone if you’re interested in Japanese culture, comics, and romance.
Program will be on Saturday, September 15, from 2-3pm. For all ages. Program will only be in English.
